On April 19 and 20, 2024, Austrian Federal Minister of Finance Magnus Brunner attended the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in Washington, DC. The Minister of Finance attended the International Monetary and Financial Committee, the main body of the IMF, which focused on increasing economic development aid and aid effectiveness. The financial capacity of the fund is expected to increase to allow for an expansion in global development cooperation.

The theme for the Program of Events at this year’s Spring Meetings was Vision to Impact. At the center of the Spring Meetings are meetings of the joint World Bank Group/IMF Development Committee and the IMF International Monetary and Financial Committee, where progress on the work of the institutions is discussed. Other featured events include regional briefings, press conferences, and fora focused on international development, issues of debt, economic recovery, and climate.

Together with Ambassador Petra Schneebauer, he also met with Austrians working in the International Financial Institutions. While in Washington, Minister Bruner also visited the U.S. Capitol and the Lillian & Albert Small Capital Jewish Museum.
