On September 12, 2024, the Austrian Embassy, alongside fellow EU Member States, participated in the annual Taste of Europe event, organized by the EU Delegation at Eastern Market in Washington, D.C. This event celebrates the strong and enduring transatlantic partnership between the European Union and the United States, emphasizing shared efforts to promote a sustainable and prosperous future for agriculture and food systems.

Austria proudly highlighted its rich culinary heritage by serving Julius Meinl coffee and Sacher Torte with Schlag - freshly whipped cream, offering guests a taste of Austria’s renowned coffeehouse culture. Austrian Grüner Veltliner wine was also served, bringing a flavor of Austria’s celebrated viticulture to the occasion.

In addition to the culinary experience, Taste of Europe offered a valuable platform for dialogue between EU and US representatives on the significance of agricultural collaboration. The event, which caters to congressional staff and other U.S. stakeholders, provided an opportunity to discuss the challenges both regions face, such as climate change and sustainable food production.
