For more than ten years the Trio Frizzante is successfully inspiring their audience around half of the world. The three musicians Doris Kitzmantel (piano), Marlies Gaugl (flute) and Marta Kordykiewicz (violoncello) are restless and simply full of ideas. The Trio attempts to explore the harmony of the three instruments in different styles. Not only their concert programs, but also the collaboration with other artists is always a surprise.
The concert program “New Visions” includes original or commissioned compositions combined with arranged pieces in one evening.
“Waltzin” (UA 2015 in South Africa), written by the Austrian musician and composer Mario Gheorghiu, is featured in the latest CD, which also bears its title.
A jazz waltz: “…each waltz beat in this piece of music embodies one of the three inspiring musical personalities of the Trio Frizzante.” (Mario Gheorghiu)
An equally appealing strength of the Trio Frizzante is arranging and transforming existing literature. Some well-known works have already been brought into new sound spheres, such as “Addendum” by Chick Corea or the Debussy Trio, which can also be heard on the CD “Waltzin” (released by Austrian Grammophon). The Beethoven Trio (originally composed for flute, piano and bassoon) now arranged for Trio Frizzante- brings new experiences to the listeners. The Trio is not limited to music alone, also the fusion with other artists is important. The collaboration with the Austrian actress Barbara Kramer-Göbl has already resulted in two successful programs. The Austrian composer Alexander Kukelka has recently composed the “Requiem for a dead end”.
TRIO FRIZZANTE
Founded in 2009 the Trio Frizzante is performing music for flute, cello and piano. Marlies Gaugl, Doris Kitzmantel and Marta Kordykiewicz love to share their passion for chamber music, so the decision to form an inspiring group was without any discussion for the three ladies. Reading the name frizzante one can already sense their personal musical intention – the musicians inspire their audience by an extremely diverse repertoire throughout several kinds of musical epochs crossing classical, impressionistic music as well as contemporary and jazz, leading to fresh and vivid performances.
Trio Frizzante is leaving traditional ways and crossing borders of musical genres merging frequently with composers, dancers, singers or actors. The ensemble focuses on performing and supporting the creation and production of new music for their setting. Over the years Trio Frizzante has premiered a variety of pieces written for the ensemble. This has resulted in one of their CD productions „NASOM – New Austrian Sound of Music“.
Amongst various musical prizes, the trio was awarded by the START-Stipendium of the Austrian Ministry. Entitled by the series “New Austrian Sound of Music” by the Austrian Ministry of foreign affairs, the artists are selected to bring their music to foreign countries as cultural ambassadors of Austria. They were sent to tours and workshops throughout Europe and beyond with high lights like the Vienna Musikverein, the Opera Graz, to St. Martin in the Fields in Great Britain, to Malta, Sweden, Poland, Greece, Spain, Hungary, Slovenia and Slovakia followed by invitations to South Africa and the University of Tehran in Iran.
