Responsible handling of personal data is a top priority for the Austrian Press & Information Service in the United States. It is important to us that you know when we collect which data and how we process it.
Data processing on the website:
1) Website in general
The purpose of data processing via this website (www.austria.org) is to provide information about Austria, Austrian-American relations, and activities at the Austrian diplomatic missions in the United States. By using the website or the content provided, you as a user agree to data processing in accordance with this statement.
Data logged when accessing the website will only be transmitted to third parties if we are obliged to do so by law or by court decision, or if this is necessary for legal or criminal prosecution in the event of attacks on the Internet infrastructure.

Each of your accesses to the website is stored in a log file (server logs) for a limited time with the following data:

request details (e.g. user agent) and destination address incl. GET parameters
Name of the retrieved file and amount of data transferred
Date and time of the retrieval

This data is used exclusively to check system security. There is no personal evaluation or profiling.
Nevertheless, we reserve the right to evaluate your IP address in the event of attacks on the Internet infrastructure of the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs.
3) Cookies
No personal data is stored in cookies. You can deactivate the use of cookies by setting your browser software accordingly. If you do not allow cookies, you can still use our website in principle.
4) Analysis tool Google Analytics

Inquiries and applications via e-mail or postal entry point
Your personal information that you disclose to us via online forms, e-mail, or postal mail (for example, newsletter sign-up or event registration) will be handled responsibly by our staff and used only for the purpose of addressing your request or inquiry.
Invitation and event management
The Press & Information Service collects the contact data of interested persons for the purpose of inviting them to events. These contact details are processed until the purpose is fulfilled, and in the case of repeated invitations with the consent of the persons concerned, until revoked. You can request the deletion of your personal data from our contact databases at any time.
Newsletter, regular information and communications
The Press & Information Service provides interested persons with information about its activities by means of newsletters. Your personal contact information will be processed with your consent for the purpose of sending this information. You can revoke your consent and unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time.
Image processing
At events, we take photos and videos for documentation purposes and for the purpose of informing you about the activities of the Press & Information Service and the Austrian diplomatic missions in the United States, a selection of which may be published on the website, social media channels and in print media or, on a case-by-case basis, of the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs. We process this data with your consent or in the legitimate interest of the Ministry. If you do not agree to the image processing, please contact us in advance of the event. You can also object to the use of your data at a later date.

Your personal data will not be passed on to third parties for commercial or non-commercial purposes without your express consent, unless we are required to do so by law or court order.

Protection of minors
Persons under the age of 18 should not transmit any personal data to us without the consent of their parents or legal guardians. The Press & Information Service does not request personal data from children and young people without official necessity. Without official necessity, such data will neither be collected nor passed on to third parties.
