On April 8, 2022, Ambassador Martin Weiss visited the University of Virginia (UVA) as part of the Center for Politics’ Ambassador Series. The conversation was hosted by the Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy and focused on current political affairs as well as the transatlantic relationship between Austria and the U.S. It was followed by an open audience Q&A Session with questions centering around Austria, the status of current transatlantic relations, and the situation in Ukraine.

The visit took place as part of the UVA’s three-day symposium on “The State as Experiment” in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the death of Josef Popper-Lynkeus. The Batten School, Center for Politics, European Studies Program, the Center for German Studies, the Virginia Center for the Study of Religion, the Department of Germanic Languages and Cultures, the Department of History, and the Jewish Studies Program all acted as co-sponsors of the event.

Ambassador Weiss also holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Virginia (UVA).
