On December 12th, the Austrian Consulate General New York hosted the traditional Hanukkah celebration in collaboration with the American Jewish Committee’s ACCESS NY.

The organization ACCESS NY is AJC’s young professionals division for those in their 20’s and 30’s, aiming at empowering young Jewish leaders in New York through advocacy, leadership training, and global engagement.

The evening featured a captivating poem recitation by author and content creator Aija Mayrock, insightful remarks by both AJC representatives and Deputy Consul General Johannes Gassner, and the enjoyment of traditional Hanukkah treats, including the ever-popular jelly donuts. The highlight of the festivities was the solemn candle lighting ceremony with the Consulate General’s very own Menroah.

It was the 14th time that AJC ACCESS was celebrating the “Festival of Lights” at the Austrian Consulate General and another great opportunity to join with fellow diplomats, interfaith partners and AJC leaders, fostering new connections and friendships. We are looking forward to continuing this valuable tradition in 2025!
