October 29-31, 2022, Austrian State Secretary Florian Tursky visited New York, NY. There he met with United Nations Envoy on Technology Amandeep Singh Gill on October 31. In Washington, DC, State Secretary Tursky met on November 1 with April McClain-Delaney, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information at the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) within the U.S. Department of Commerce. He also discussed digitalization and crypto asset analytics with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) at the U.S. Treasury.

Finally, State Secretary Tursky was honored to participate in a special reception at the Austrian Embassy in Washington, DC for 17 new Austrian citizens that were recently granted Austrian citizenship under the 2019 amendment to §58c of the Austrian Citizenship Act as descendants of persons persecuted under National Socialism. Together with Secretary-General for Foreign Affairs Peter Launsky-Tieffenthal, State Secretary Tursky expressed his gratitude to the new Austrian citizens for deciding to renew their bonds with Austria, despite how long it took the country to acknowledge its historic responsibility for the fates of the new citizens’ ancestors and family members.
