Dr. Jonathan Singerton Presents New Book, “The American Revolution and the Habsburg Monarchy”

On Wednesday, August 17, 2022, Dr. Jonathan Singerton (University of Innsbruck) presented highlights from his new book on the responses and reactions within the Habsburg Monarchy to the American Revolution. The talk took place in the atrium of the Austrian Embassy in Washington, DC.

Finja Draxler, the new director of the Austrian Press and Information Service, introduced Dr. Singerton and welcomed him to the embassy. Currently a lecturer and research fellow the University of Innsbruck in Austria, Dr. Singerton has held numerous fellowships in the United States and Europe for his research on the global interconnections of Central Europe, particularly in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. His current research and teaching focuses on the global and oceanic aspects of Austrian history.

Following his lecture, Dr. Singerton fielded questions from the audience during a brief round of Q&A. The event then concluded with a reception featuring Austrian wine.
