Federal Minister Susanne Raab Visits New York and Washington
Austrian Federal Minister for Women, Family, Integration and Media Susanne Raab traveled to New York and Washington, D.C. from March 10 - 14, 2024. Her visit focused on the status of women around the world, the challenges and opportunities of migration as well as on the threats of disinformation.
The Minister’s first stop in the U.S. was the United Nations Headquarters in New York City, where she represented Austria at the 68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women and met fellow colleagues from other countries. Further meetings included a talk about the media landscape in Austria and the USA with Bloomberg Deputy Editor in Chief Reto Gregori and a work meeting with Manuel Castro, NYC Commissioner of Immigrant Affairs.
Upon arrival in Washington, D.C. Minister Raab took a tour of the Capitol and met with Senator Shelley Moore Capito, Vice Chair of the Senate Republican Conference and first female Senator from West Virginia. Minister Raab was then welcomed at the Transatlantic Policy Center at American University, where she engaged with students on Austrian and European perspectives on migration and current challenges. Minister Raab also met with Senior Officials at the U.S. Department of State.
