Building a Sustainable Space Economy

Hosts and panelists at the "Building a Sustainable Space Economy" event at the Austrian Embassy in Washington, D.C.

On September 12, 2024, the Embassy of Austria together with ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Washington hosted the panel discussion “Building a Sustainable Space Economy” on the occasion of a business mission from a delegation of eight highly innovative Austrian aerospace companies, led by Wolfgang Hesoun, Vice President of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber and organized by Irene Lack-Hageneder from ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA Washington. The panel brought together US and Austrian industry and policy experts not only to explore business opportunities and trends in the booming aerospace industry but also to address critical issues surrounding the sustainability of outer space activities. It was supported by the business initiative Refocus Austria. The Austrian Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission, Hans Almoslechner welcomed guests along with Vice President Hesoun, followed by a discussion, moderated by Natalia Larrea, U.S. Director of Nova Space with speakers Ilsa Mroz from Aerospace Industry Association, Kevin O’Connell from Space Economy Rising and Ruth Aigner from Terma Technologies. Georg Lack, Head of the Economic Section at the Embassy of Austria, co-organized the event.

As part of their visit to Washington DC the Austrian aerospace companies DEWETRON, Frequentis, ISOVOLTA Group, Terma Group, TTTECH COMPUTERTECHNIK AG, MAGNA STEYR Aerospace, PEAK Technology and FACC AG also attended the Global Aerospace Summit 2024 organized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
