The 2023 National Day Reception at the Austrian Embassy in Washington, DC highlighted the Salzkammergut 2024 European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl – Salzkammergut.

Ambassador Petra Schneebauer, herself a native of Upper Austria, was delighted to introduce the region to our many guests and to get to know many Austrians living in the U.S. The Anton Bruckner Year 2024 was also presented a short film.

The highlights of the evening included a performance by the stunt bike artist Aaron Colton, music played by the Tyrolean military music brass band and, in keeping with the imperial city of Bad Ischl, culinary highlights - "Kaiserschnitzerl and Kaiserschmarrn" - both prepared by apprentice chefs of the Austrian Armed Forces.

We also shared a piece of the Salzkammergut with the USA by sending off all guests with a mug made by Gmundner Keramik Manufaktur as well as salt from Bad Ischler.

Thank you to all our sponsors!
