Message from Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg on the Anniversary of the Russian War of Aggression

Austria stands with Ukraine – as long as it takes

One year ago, Russia started its brutal, full-scale war of aggression against Ukraine. To this day, unspeakable human suffering and destruction continue, for which Russia is fully responsible. Since day one, Austria has stood shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine and the people of Ukraine.

Austria has taken in more than 90,000 displaced Ukrainians and provided over 124 million euros in humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Austria also signed a framework agreement worth 600 million euros for the construction of three hospitals in Ukraine.

The people of Ukraine deserve a just and lasting peace. Austria demands that Russia immediately end its aggression and unconditionally withdraw its troops to re-establish Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

On this sad anniversary, Austrian Foreign Minister Schallenberg’s message is clear: Austria stands by international law and the Charter of the United Nations. Austria stands with Ukraine!
