World-Class Tenor Piotr Beczała Receives Austrian Citizenship in New York

On January 22, 2025, Consul General Helene Steinhäusl had the honor to confer the Austrian citizenship to world-class tenor Piotr Beczała and his wife, Katarzyna Bąk-Beczała, further strengthening their longstanding relationship to Austria.

As part of the ceremony Mr. Beczała and Ms. Bąk-Beczała sang the Austrian anthem – a remarkable performance!

Mr. Beczała is one of the most sought-after tenors of our time and a constant guest in the world’s leading opera houses, including the famous Vienna State Opera and the Metropolitan Opera in New York City, where he gave seven performances as Radamès in Verdi’s Aida this January.
